Moscow's Gay Pride parade cut short

More than three dozen gay rights activists have been arrested after they tried to hold an unsanctioned march in the shadow of the Kremlin.

Police quickly moved in and the area was sealed off.

"This ban on Moscow's Gay Pride is particularly shocking because during the Second World War, Muscovites stood against the Nazis who tried to exterminate Jews, homosexuals and Communists but now the Mayor of Moscow is colluding with neo-Nazis." said UK gay rights activist, Peter Tatchell.
