Anti-Castro lobby keeps embargo in place

Cuba—an island the size of the state of Tennessee with a big place in US foreign policy. But why, despite poll after poll showing Americans favor ending the embargo, is Cold War Cuba policy still in place?


As Fidel Castro celebrated his 85th birthday this weekend, critics of the embargo argue that the economic sanctions designed to bring him down continue to hurt average Cubans—but remain in place thanks to donations from powerful Anti-Castro political action committees.
