DS Hishammuddin Hussein gets death threat

KUALA LUMPUR: Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein received a death threat and two bullets but said he will not be intimidated.

“I will not be intimidated by the threat and it only strengthens my resolve to discharge the duties and responsibilities entrusted to me to maintain the peace and security of this nation,” he said.

“I have received threats against my life before but this is the first time that a death threat was accompanied by live bullets.

“I view this threat seriously,” he told reporters during a breaking of fast function at the Al-Ikhlasiyah Mosque in Pantai Dalam yesterday.

The bullets were found in a cut-out section of a book mailed to his Putrajaya office and was discovered by a clerk attached with his special officer Wan Najmuddin Mohd.

Hishammuddin said the bullets and a hand-written note in Bahasa Malaysia were handed to the police forensic team for investigation.

He refused to divulge the contents of the note or the manner of the threat.

He said he was uncertain as to the motive behind the threat which could have stemmed from a disgruntled individual with regards to recent efforts taken by his ministry against syndicated crime.

Hishammuddin, who was accompanied by Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Datuk Raja Zainal Abidin, handed out Hari Raya aid to 873 residents.

Earlier, in his speech, Hishammuddin chided PKR vice-president Tian Chua for claiming that Raja Nong Chik was giving extra attention to Pantai Dalam to win back the parliamentary seat held by PKR's Nurul Izzah Anwar.

He noted that Raja Nong Chik, a local of the area, had been serving the people there since 20 years ago as an Umno Youth member.

“He is currently the division chief and a minister and so it is natural for him to continue his service to the people here,” Hishammuddin said.
