The plan to pump Iran's natural gas to Iraq, and later to Syria and the Mediterranean Sea is no longer a pipe dream. That's because the Iraqi government has finally endorsed the framework of the strategic energy agreement, which will also pave the way for exporting Iranian gas to Europe through Syria. The official announcement came on the sidelines of the Ninth International Energy Conference in Tehran. Iran will pump its natural gas to Iraq through the 10-billion-dollar pipeline from Assaluyeh, near the massive offshore South Pars Gas Field in southern Iran. The 1,500-kilometer-pipeline will feed three Iraqi power plants before reaching Syria and the Mediterranean Sea.
