Singapore doctor is suspended, fined for misconduct
Dr Tan Boon Huat, 62, pleaded guilty to 33 charges. He was fined S$4,000 and censured.
In a statement today, SMC said the charges against Dr Tan involved failure to exercise due care in the management of his patients by inappropriately prescribing benzodiazepines and other hypnotics.
A Disciplinary Committee Inquiry was held, following a complaint dated Dec 12, 2007, by the Ministry of Health to the SMC.
Dr Tan was also ordered to provide a written undertaking to the SMC that he would not engage in the conduct complained of, or any similar conduct.- BERNAMA
