Should the BPL look to Malaysia for talent? ( MSN Sport Malaysia )

In the wake of Safee Sali’s recent trial opportunity with Cardiff City, do you think the big leagues of the world should take more notice of Malaysia’s assets?

Not as vast as most nations in terms of sheer size or capacity, Malaysia's still a force to be reckoned with in the sporting world. Lee Chong Wei sits on top of the badminton world as its World No.1, Nicol David occupies that same position for women's squash - and this has been for as long as we can remember, and we've got all kinds of folk in Formula 1; team owners, former drivers, and current test drivers.

With Malaysian football at a decent 'high' at the moment, is it too far-fetched an idea for football leagues around the world to begin taking notice of our local assets?

Safiq Rahim and Safee Sali have already secured deals for trials with Welsh football club Cardiff City, which is owned by fellow Malaysian Datuk Chan Tien Ghee. Both players have demonstrated excellent quality in our Harimau's recent matches and the trial is very much well-deserved.

Another genuine Malaysian talent is the ever awesome and reliable Khairul Fahmi Che Mat; current national and Kelantan FA goalkeeper. You must admit that his form against Singapore in the recent World Cup qualifiers and also against English giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea have been impressive and often very similar to what you would find in the Barclays Premier League.

It isn't too hard to imagine a club like Stoke, QPR, Swansea - or even Arsenal for that matter, utilising the services and heroics of someone like Khairul Fahmi.

So why do you think clubs in the BPL, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga haven't snapped up the likes of Fahmi, Safiq and Safee? They're clearly very talented and capable individuals, well worthy of a shot in the big leagues - even if it's for a littler team in the big leagues.

TELL US! What will it take for our local heroes to make it into the BPL, Serie A, La Liga and more? Why haven't the big guns taken notice?
